Mural presentation at Homecoming 2006

Once again this year a small cadre of classmates was on hand at CGA's Homecoming weekend to present the three new paintings and to drum up support for the murals project. Champion for Eagle and Danmark Bill Avery made the formal presentation to the Superintendent RADM Jim Van Sice. Champion for the Prinsendam rescue Len Pichini was assisted by Jody Avery, Janet and Harvey Wahnquist, Bill Borchers, Chuck Morgan, and Carl Burkhart. Representing the Class of 60, sponsors of the Prinsendam mural, were Nick Schowengerdt and Don Naples. We were successful in signing up another class as sponsor for the Drug Interdiction mural (details later).

In addition, Carl joined artist Tony Falcone and our artistic consultant Bill Plage (CGA '73) at the Times Square Marriott hotel just before Homecoming to display samples of our murals at the USCG Foundation's "Salute to the Coast Guard" dinner. This was attended by over 1000 people paying $1,000 per plate. Quite a show.
